From Sir Richard Hadlee to Geoff Allott, Shane Bond and Brendon McCullum to our latest Blackcaps Corey Anderson and Todd Astle, Old Boys Collegians Cricket Club has a rich cricketing history and we’re looking for new members. We’re proud to provide playing opportunities for a range of different players and abilities with 8 different Senior Men’s sides that compete in Christchurch Metropolitan Cricket Association’s various divisions across the city. Read more below.
The Club has 3 Morning Grade sides which compete in 2 Day, 1 Day and T20 Competitions – these are the Club’s top 3 Senior Men’s sides and cater towards those looking to take their cricket seriously – whether they are looking to push for higher honours or just looking to be the best cricketer they can possibly be. These squads all train together at Elmwood Park (Heaton Street, Strowan) during the summer months on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15pm onwards. The Morning Grade sides are coached well by the combination of Richard Pithey and Mike Hamel – both holding NZC Coaching Level 3 Certificates.
However, if you are just looking to play casually, only wanting to play shorter formats, or just want your Saturday mornings free before matches – OBC has 5 Afternoon Grade sides to cater to you – varying from sides that only play 40 over matches, to sides that only play T20s.
We are always looking to help provide playing opportunities for anyone who is keen to join the Club, so if you are interested in joining OBC then please contract our Senior Men’s Club Captain Mark Barnes on 0226834732 or markbarnes39@gmail.com to place you in a side. Otherwise you can register your interest here.
